Judas Goat

Judas Goat

Sitting in a Lloyd Loom chair on a Narrow Boat, moored on the Kennet and Avon Canal, a dead man stares into oblivion. Who is he and what is his name? Chief Inspector Michael Lambert from Thames Valley Police Authority unravels a murder case which stretches from Reading to Bulgaria, South Africa to Belorussia, and finally Taiwan to Peru. What at first appears to be a straightforward murder is revealed to be part of an international manhunt, the result of a major arms deal which has gone horribly wrong. The story of Judas Goat begins with the discovery of a small mobile phone on the narrow boat and ends with the murder of a Chinese shipping magnate in the streets of London. Will anyone’s life be the same again and how will our provincial policeman cope with these different layers of intrigue?

Journey Towards the Light

Journey Towards the Light

Journey Towards the Light, tells of how Suzanne Haslam’s life changed after she married a man who turned out to be an obsessive control freak, she found herself constantly humiliated, manipulated and bullied. Her husband was clever enough to make sure her family and friends never saw what was going on, and because the abuse was not physical there were no scars, which she could display as evidence. Her family accused her of imagining it all and even allowed her husband – who was working in the family business – to worm his way into their favour as the one who had been wronged. After seven years of misery, Suzanne managed to pluck up the courage to divorce her husband. However, the stress of coping with the abuse and the tension with her family drove her to a full-scale nervous breakdown and she was forced to take extended sick leave from the nursing job she loved. She sought sanctuary in a remote Spanish monastery, where she experienced a series of vivid psychic events, which ultimately showed her how she could rebuild her life.

Journey to the Centre of the Cosmos

Journey to the Centre of the Cosmos

Journey to the Centre of the Cosmos is a brief summary of the work, to date, of Anthony Wakefield Hill. Hill’s writings are partly philosophical and partly psychological, though there is barely any difference, and are of particular interest to the general reader; his subject matter is encyclopaedic, one of his works being The Knowledge of Everything, and he deals variously with the four pillars of existence: art, religion, philosophy and science. The Psychological Age is upon us, making the Physical Age redundant; it was trumpeted initially by C.G. Jung and G.I. Gurdjieff and is now fully substantiated in Hill’s many books.

James Lawrence Isherwood

James Lawrence Isherwood

James Lawrence Isherwood (1917-1989) is widely regarded by his followers as one of the best impressionist painters this country has produced. Born and bred in Wigan, now part of Greater Manchester, England, he was a prolific painter and produced his best work from the early 1960s on. His work has always been considered truly original and is typified by strong brushwork and extravagant colours. His subjects ranged from rural and industrial landscapes to nudes and portraiture, and his work has found its way into art collections across the world.

It's Yourself

It's Yourself!

Susan Potter knew as a little girl that she wanted to be a children’s nurse. Thirty years later, after working in hospitals in the UK, Germany and the Far East, she crowned an eventful nursing career by founding a hospice for sick children, entirely from her own initiative which, when completed was officially opened by Princess Diana, HRH the Princess of Wales. It’s Yourself! is Susan’s story, from her earliest childhood years divided between holidays in Scotland and her rural home in Essex to the challenges and excitement of an international nursing career. It relates the story of how she trained as young nurse at Great Ormond Street and went on to join Queen Alexandra’s Royal Army Nursing Corps, serving at military hospitals in Germany, Singapore and Hong Kong and rising to the rank of Major. There are chapters about her work with the renowned in-vitro fertilisation pioneers Patrick Steptoe and Robert Edwards at Bourne Hall Fertility Clinic, and her greatest professional achievement – raising the funding and public support necessary to open a new hospice for sick children for the eastern region.

It's a Dog's Life for the Other Half

It's a Dog's Life for the Other Half

Steve Ankers’ wife Margaret and big brother John have been vets all their lives, so Steve has spent a large part of his life helping one or other of them, sometimes both, through amusing, harrowing and occasionally disgusting encounters with creatures of all varieties, shapes and sizes.

The experience has given him a hilarious fund of tales about adventures with animals and their owners, from llamas, wallabies and escaped alligators to dodgy greyhound trainers and the cat that ate a Chihuahua. Sometimes moving and often extremely funny, this is a very well-written account of life working closely – sometimes TOO closely – with animals.

It Won't Always be Dark at Seven

It Won't Always be Dark at Seven

Boyce Stretton was born in Hertfordshire in 1937. It Won’t Always be Dark at Seven… tells the story of his early life; his impoverished infancy in County Durham, his sometimes uneasy transition to a more affluent life on the Isle of Wight, and finally his career as a boy soldier before enlisting with the Royal Dragoon Guards. Packed with period detail of a way of life now long forgotten, It Won’t Always be Dark at Seven… is also a moving reflection with the perspective of half a century and a recognition that, while life is lived forwards, it can only be understood backwards. Boyce Stretton died in July 2011, a month short of seeing his memoir in print.

In Search of Me

In Search of Me

In 2004 Carol Young set herself a challenge – walking in stages from Land’s End to John O’Groats, on her own. For someone who had only once travelled away from home alone, it was quite a challenge, particularly as it meant leaving her husband and children for weeks at a time. The journey tested Carol’s physical and mental strength, determination and her integrity, to say nothing of her understanding of maps, walking gear and survival skills. The experience proved rewarding and life changing. In over 1200 miles of plodding the lanes and tracks of the UK she met many fascinating people, whose kindness and generosity helped to make the task enjoyable. There were glimpses of rare wildlife, breath-taking scenery and several ordeals at the hands of wind, weather and water. In Search of Me is Carol’s heart-warming story, illustrated by many evocative photographs of her experience.

Immortality for You

Immortality for You

Immortality for You is the only book to put forward a treatment or ‘cure’ for old age. The book explains how to become ‘undead’ and immortal, giving details of how to perpetuate life in a post-resurrection future. Fascinating topics such as time travel, space flight and robotics are treated. The book explains the public’s achievements they may not be aware of, in technology and morality. Immortality for You is a life-saving book 200 years ahead of its time. Richard Parsons was born April 1964 under the name Richard John Summers. He was a pupil of West Hatch High School. At the age of 16 he had a job as an assistant printer. He left printing for an occupation as an inventor. Then in 1986 he departed from technology for various religious studies and certificates, returning to technology in 1993. After making several failed technological ventures, he wrote the book Immortality for You.
